Summer of '80’s Models

After the 70’s we came into the era of the first thruster and four fin models, thanks to Simon Anderson for the thrusters, and Glenn Winton for the quads. I was designing, building, and selling these types of boards for Local Motion Hawaii, and in Japan. Those models were mainly designed around Larry Bertleman, Mark Liddell and "Button's", and others who were my team riders and riding for LM. In the middle of the Summer of '83: I had 3 different magazine cover shots of that same thruster design. That was a big deal for me and so the name: "Summer of '83" model came about. The 80's were the decade for experimenting with multi-fin placements, and back then in the early 80's, all my personal boards had up to 5 finboxes. These designs are being faithfully recreated now as I was building them in '83 They were styled with a "sleek-beak" nose, and the thicknesses were still forward of center but not as forwardly pronounced as my single fins were in the 70’s. A panel Vee throughout the whole bottom was the motor on that board's ability to go from rail to rail easily, and pick up speed going from rail to rail just like shifting gears in a Porsche! These are such a fun boards to ride in all conditions and the 80's outlines with the flatter deck and fuller rails make this one model super easy to ride.
